My neighbor came to me a month ago and told us they were going to build a fence around their backyard. Now that the fence is up they are asking for $900 dollar of the $1800 for the common fence (49 feet long) between us. I don't know how much a fence cost these days, but the neighbor said that it cost them $6000 to put up that fence. They used pressure treated wood (green in color) and post that was cemented down. The backyard is slightly slanted down if that helps. When they asked me for the $900, I was shocked. My question is, how much does a fence, 49 feet in length and 5 feet high cost range?

Good Evening, At first glance the price seems a little spendy, but without specifics it’s hard to calculate a running foot price. I am assuming that you don't really trust your neighbors? Otherwise I would ask to see the invoice and or talk to the contractor if there was one and get some more info. Most contractors have a running foot price so they can estimate their cost, add a profit and overhead. Sorry I can't be of more help, but without seeing the job it's hard to calculate as there are other factors in bidding a job. Gordon
